This festival has evolved from our need to create a project that can effectively increase the range of cultural, tourist and recreational activities that we are able to offer in our municipality.

Due to its geographical location and the quality of our night sky, Valle Gran Rey is an ideal area to observe the moon and stars in their splendor. From this natural beauty came the idea which formed the basis of our project "The Moon - Our Natural Tourist Attraction".

The main aim of this project is to make full use of the Luna lighting which we are privileged to in our municipality. With this in mind, on those special evenings when we have a full moon, the Town Hall will turn off the street lighting.

In celebrating this festival we hope to combine enjoying the beauty of our night skies with both cultural and recreational activities such as concerts and arts and crafts.

The department of tourism of the council of Valle Gran Rey hope, that this festival becomes an event in which we are all able to contribute and take part, whilst at the same time help to promote our municipality as a cultural reference point for the Island of Gomera.
